Treatment Foster Care

La Frontera New Mexico’s Treatment Foster Care (TFC) program serves children up to 21 years of age with serious emotional and behavioral problems who have been removed from their natural families for a variety of reasons. Each child is placed in a TFC home, where qualified and well-trained foster parents provide the primary treatment to the child.

TFC parents work closely with La Frontera New Mexico’s treatment team, the child’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s), and appropriate others toward meeting established treatment goals that include a permanent living situation at home, with adoptive parents, long-term foster care, or independent living.

Services are designed to work with the child to prevent placement in a more restrictive setting or to support the child in returning from a more restrictive setting as they transition home.
